Canoeing - Ecology Focus

If ecological exploration is your preference, there may be no better way to see Penn’s flora and fauna than by canoeing on Lake Hazel. After receiving special instruction in canoe strokes and allowing some time for practice, Penn’s staff will lead a flotilla of canoes around the lake searching for exciting ecological discoveries along the way. Depending on the time of year, water levels and nature’s cooperation, students may see waterfowl, beaver, otters, turtles, frogs and more. Students receive special instruction in safe boating practices and wear life jackets on Lake Hazel.
