Betsy-Jeff Penn serves over 1,100 youth every summer with overnight camp, day camp, and programs for teens. There are few tools as powerful as the camp experience to positively impact the lives of young people. Offering one of the best values in the state for a high-quality summer camp experience, youth gain critical life skills through experiential learning, improve their social skills by meeting and making new friends, and gain an experience that will last a lifetime.
- Overnight Summer Camp -
This is the classic residential, six-day summer camping experience for your child, ages 8-12. Children are placed in co-ed activity groups according to age and participate in a variety of activities including horseback riding, canoeing on Lake Hazel, archery, rock wall climbing, swimming, arts & crafts, cookouts, campfires, nature exploration, teambuilding, high ropes and more. Learn more and register your child for the experience of a lifetime today!
- Daytime Stay -
These daily on-site sessions are offered for local youth ages 6-14 to experience all of the fun of camp activities Monday through Friday while spending each evening and weekend at home. Day Camp is organized into two-week, themed sessions and includes all the activities of overnight camp. Space is very limited so register your child as soon as possible.

Programs for Teens
Betsy-Jeff Penn offers a variety of camping opportunities for older teens. Six-day, residential Adventure/Trekker programs for teens age 12-14 offer additional opportunities for learning outdoor living skills and participating in off-site rock climbing and river canoeing trips. Our LIT (Leaders-in-Training) program offers leadership development opportunities for campers age 15-17 where they can still participate in all the camp fun while serving as junior counselors.

Nervous about sending your child to camp?
The camp experience is so important for these children because it gives them a sense of identity, a sense of purpose, it adds to their self-efficacy ten times over. It changes you.
Coming here is going to be the best week of your life. Regardless of what week you come, regardless of who you are, you’re going to change.
We love 4-H camp. It builds relationships, leadership skills, self-discipline, self-motivation, and gives young people a safe environment for personal growth.
This place, I feel like I can be myself. I’ve waited a whole year for summer just to get back here.
First I was afraid to talk to people and I was shy. Now I can talk and be myself.
Everybody makes it so that every week is the best week of your life here and that’s really special.
Every year there is always the person on your side of the cabin who becomes a great friend.
Coming to BJP showed me there are people out here that want to help you, there are people who want to change your life every day, there are people who are going to pick you up.
I always said I can’t and now I say I can.
